Hold onto your oven mitts! The U.S. House Oversight Committee is hosting another gas stove hearing. According to a memo released in relation to the bill “Under the Biden Administration, the Department of Energy has issued proposed and finalized rules for new energy efficiency standards through its Office for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy which impact multiple categories of home appliances. Questions exist as to whether the Department has satisfied required statutory considerations in advancing rules which appear to be efforts to regulate certain appliances out of the market.”
Further, “This hearing will examine the development, processes, and substance of proposed and finalized rules related to home appliances including, but not limited to, gas stoves, clothes washers, dishwashers, clothes dryers, air conditioners, and light bulbs.”
